Peaky Blinders come to Stockport

Peaky Blinders are filming for series five and the cast and camera crews have descended on Mersey Square in front of the Plaza for a two day shoot.

The historic theatre and cinema has been transformed into Bingley Hall, a former exhibition centre in Birmingham, ready for the shoot.   Other buildings nearby have been plastered with period shop fronts and awnings including a grocery store and a confectioners ready for the scenes to be filmed.

The cast will be joined by around 120 extras for the scenes and smoke cannons will be used to create a foggy, atmospheric setting, a down side to this is that  Impey & Co management team were called out to a property close to the filming  due to the fire alarm going off !!!!!

The up side to this filming is that Stockport also had a visit from David Beckham who has been vocal about his love of Peaky Blinders, recently unveiling a clothing range in collaboration with the hit show.  He visited the set on Wednesday but has denied rumours of a cameo in the gangster drama.
