‘Queen of Shops’ returns to Stockport

Impey & Company has been involved in working closely with the various stakeholders in the Market Place and Underbanks in assisting with the continued regeneration of Stockport’s recently rebranded ‘Old Town’.

Impey retail agent Andy Thornton has been working in partnership with local private Landlords, Stockport Council’s Market and Town Centre teams along with John and Joe Barrett from Seven Miles Out – who were responsible for the original success behind Stockport’s Portas Pilot bid – to continue to drive regeneration within the town centre and help reduce vacancy levels affecting the retail sector.

Recently Impey & Co secured the letting of the former Bambooza bar premises along with bringing new independent retail Tenants into the town centre along St. Petersgate and the Underbanks.

Mary Portas returned to Stockport in December 2014 to  assess the impact that the original £100,000 Portas Pilot funding money has had on the town centre and was pleased with the way in which money had been invested to create an energy within the town. The original £100,000 has been supplemented by the same amount from SMBC with another £100,000 coming from the High Street Innovation Fund.
